ePropulsion Navy 6 EVO electric outboard, L shaft

The ePropulsion Navy 6.0 EVO electric outboard has a 6kW direct-drive motor housed entirely in the “bulb” at the bottom of the leg – there’s no separate drive shaft or cooling system to worry about. The Navy 6.0 EVO requires a 48V battery or battery bank, of at least 6kWh capacity… ideally we recommend the E-Series E163 battery at 8.3kWh and 76kg in weight. For the control system (supplied separately) you can choose between a tiller, top mount remote control or side mount control, all of which incorporate a digital display showing battery, speed and range info.

This is the L (Long) shaft version of the ePropulsion Navy 6, suitable for transom heights from 50-60cm. It weighs approx 29kg.

The ePropulsion Navy 6 has loads of torque so is best-suited to powering displacement vessels (less so lightweight planing dinghies). In this role it excels and can push surprisingly heavy boats, up to about 5 tonnes, in gloriously smooth near-silence. We have the pod version on our own Sadler 29 sailing yacht (weighing approx 4 tonnes), and it’s more than sufficient!
