That’s right, for an entry-level price, less than £300, you can get afloat in a “proper” inflatable that won’t sag in the middle and won’t go mouldy/rotten if you leave it damp in storage. Price was the only reason to buy a kayak with separate internal bladders, now you don’t have to!

Spinera Duo Kayak – What’s it Like to Paddle?

Simply put, Amazing for the Price!

Nothing else at this sort of money – especially from an established brand with a good reputation, with UK warranty support – comes close, because none of the others have the high pressure dropstitch floor. Dropstitch material, as used in the construction of inflatable SUPS, is much stiffer than any other inflatable technology, so the kayak retains its shape, i.e. won’t look like a banana when you sit in it!

The double skeg system means it tracks very well too, so you convert more of your paddling effort into forward motion rather than making zig-zags across the water.

And, whilst there’s no question that there are longer inflatable kayaks, the Spinera Duo kayak at 340cm (just over 11ft) has a reasonable waterline length. Waterline length is the main determinant of kayak speed; the Duo is by no means a racing machine but you can make good progress in one. So it’s either faster for the same effort, or less effort to achieve the same speed, as a shorter one. Some “two-person” inflatables are two or even three foot shorter!

At 90cm wide it has reassuring stability too.

Spinera Duo Kayak – Can I Paddle it Solo?

Yes! The seat attachment points are spaced such that you can fit one seat or two, and are adjustable further using the straps. This is important because if you’re paddling solo the position of your weight fore and aft can make a massive difference to the behaviour of the kayak.

WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION HINTS WHEN PADDLING SOLO:
– If you’re finding it difficult to turn (it almost seems like the kayak has too much tendency to go straight), try moving your weight further aft (back) in the boat
– If you’re finding the kayak “waggles about” a lot, try moving your weight further forwards

We also sometimes find that double skeg (tracking fin) designs like this are easier to control, when paddling solo, if you don’t fit the forward one.

Spinera Duo Kayak – Portability & Storage

The Spinera Duo Kayak weighs just under 10kg (or slightly over 20-lb in old money), so it’s an absolute doddle to carry, even on your own.

It’s very easy to inflate, just make sure the valves are in the inflate position (there is a little spring thing that needs to be sprung upwards) and attach pump of your choice. All three valves are the same so there’s no faffing about with different adapters etc.

Deflating it is even easier, just open the valves (springy thing in down position) and roll from the front. Since all the valves are towards the back most of the air will come out as you roll it. But if you’re going for a neat/compact fold, it’s often easiest to roll it twice: first time to get the air out and second time to fold it nicely.

It folds down remarkably small (folded size tbc) and there’s room in the included bag for the (included!) four-part paddles and pump.

SPINERA DUO NOW IN STOCK!

We’ve been trying out a pre-production model, and displaying it at shows, for the last couple of months (since Feb 2026, it’s 30 April at time of writing). The stock was a little delayed in turning up – world events have had a big effect on shipping schedules – but is here now.

As we started to send out all the pre-orders we couldn’t resist inflating one, and here it is. We are pleased to say it’s every bit as good as the pre-production ones, better if anything… well done Spinera! The hull and dropstitch floor are really good, and, considering that they are included as part of the deal, the paddles and pump are also of a very generous specification.
