NEW 2026! RemigoOne NEO Superlight Integral Battery Outboard
ONLY 12KG… ADJUSTABLE SHAFT LENGTH… Made in EU
RemigoOne NEO now in stock
The RemigoOne Neo is a lightweight but powerful electric outboard with a fully-integrated battery (permanently sealed into shaft, no fiddly cables or corroding connectors) and innovative height adjustable clamp bracket (one motor caters for all shaft sizes).
And we do mean lightweight, at 12kg including battery (plus separable 2kg bracket) the RemigoOne Neo is only about 2kg heavier than the battery alone for an ePropulsion Spirit PLUS. And it’s not a tiny battery… at 1085Wh the RemigoOne Neo battery has a bit less capacity than the ePropulsion Spirit (1276Wh) or Spirit 2 (1539Wh), but more than the Torqeedo 903/1103 (915Wh) or TEMO 1000 (940Wh), and about the same as the Torqeedo Travel (1080Wh).
One shaft size for all boats. The RemigoOne Neo height adjustable bracket is brilliant if you want to transfer your motor between different boats. And it’s “future proof” if you decide to change your dinghy and it has a different transom height.
The motor is rated 1kW continuous with a boost mode up to 1.5kW, for one minute at a time (repeatable immediately if battery and motor happy). That extra 500W probably only means a 10-15% increase in speed – it depends on the boat – but it’s nonetheless useful if you’re trying to motor against wind, tide or chop.
The shaft looks quite like a rudder blade and functions as one, even with the motor stopped. This is great for slow speed manouevres, coming alongside pontoons etc.
Lastly, we also think the Remigo Neo looks great, in a modern minimalist kind of way. The all-aluminium construction lends it an air of indestructability.
Remigo Neo Controls
On the RemigoOne Neo motor speed, and forward/reverse, are controlled by buttons and LEDs on top of the main shaft. This works well – soon becomes intuitive – but may take a little getting used to, as most other electric outboards have these controls on the tiller. There are advantages to this approach: no “tiller cable” to snag or chafe; and all the electronics are sealed in, protected from water, UV and salt. The magnetic kill cord is also on top.
If you don’t like the control location – or indeed need a remote control that operates up to 15m away from the motor – there is now an optional remote control, which handily stores in the end of the tiller. But it does cost about £200, so we recommend you try the standard, buttons-on-top, system first… and add the remote control later if you don’t get on with it. For more information on remote control see: REMIGO REMOTE CONTROL
RemigoOne NEO – more about that clamp bracket
A nice feature of the RemigoOne Neo is that it’s very easy to fit on the bracket. You can clamp the bracket on first, then slide the motor straight onto it. This also reduces the weight you have to handle when passing up/down from the riverbank, or from the deck of a larger boat into a dinghy.
The height adjustability is by means of three bolts that clamp the sides of the bracket against the main shaft, and is the work of a few moments.
If you choose to leave the clamp bracket on the dinghy there’s also an optional simplified storage bracket (no tilt/trim function etc). You could use this to mount the outboard on a yacht’s pushpit, or inside a cockpit locker, for example.
RemigoOne NEO Security
Our electric outboard customers raise the issue of theft quite frequently… these are expensive and desirable pieces of kit. In the case of the Remigo it’s quite easy to add some theft resistance; use a standard outboard lock on the clamp handles, and put a padlock through the top of the clamp shaft.
That is not going to stop the determined thief but hopefully it will deter or divert the more casual ones. Ultimately insurance companies can only ask you to do what’s reasonable, and that is about all you can reasonably do with an outboard.
RemigoOne Neo Battery Charging
There are several options for charging the battery:
- AC MAINS STANDARD. The charger supplied as standard with the Remigo Neo will work on mains power worldwide (100-240V). A full charge from flat takes about 6hrs.
- DC 12 VOLT. This optional charger is a “cigar lighter socket type” to charge your Remigo from other batteries (eg domestic bank in a yacht or motorhome). It draws 100W (about 8A at 12V) and takes 10-12hrs from flat. Whilst DC charging is slower than mains charging, if your power source is other batteries it’s more efficient than using the mains charger via an inverter (because of conversion losses).
- AC MAINS FAST. The optional fast mains charger cuts the charge time from 6hrs to 3.
- SOLAR. This is a different charger to the DC 12V option, and can actually be slightly faster if you have a large enough solar panel (up to 150W), and enough sunlight! Input 20-40V, MC4 connectors.
Remigo do offer their own folding solar panel but as usual with the manufacturer-branded panels it’s quite expensive for what it does… we’d recommend some online research into third party options.
How does the RemigoOne Neo compare with other Electric Outboard Motors?
There are now quite a few electric outboards on the market with broadly comparable specifications, ie around 1kW power and 1kWh battery capacity, at somewhere around the £2000 mark. The STANDOUT FEATURES of the Remigo are its light weight, height adjustability, and mostly-metal construction. If you want to be able to use your electric outboard on more than one boat (with different transom heights) the RemigoOne Neo is out on its own for this capability.
In our opinion the RemigoOne Neo is better than the TEMO 1000 and Haswing Ultima 3.0, in nearly all respects. The more viable contenders include:
– ePropulsion Spirit PLUS (£1875, 1276Wh battery, 1kW output)
– Torqeedo Travel S (£2500, 1080Wh battery, 1.1kW output)
The ePropulsion Spirit 2 (1539Wh battery, 2kW motor up to 3kW boost) also bears consideration as at £2600 it’s not that much more than a RemigoOne Neo with remote control.
We either sell, or at least have one example of, all of the outboards mentioned above at our warehouse showroom in Christchurch, Dorset… come and see for yourself!
We are excited about this new electric outboard option and we have stock of the Remigo Neo motors due to us in late March. It’s quite a different approach to the Torqeedo and ePropulsion designs, with its weight (or lack of weight) and height adjustability being of particular note.
