The ePropulsion Spirit PLUS outboard is a great electric motor for an Ecosse lightweight dinghy if you need more range and power than you can get from the ultralight ePropulsion eLite motor. Dividing into two components – just under 9kg for the battery, and 10kg for the “leg” – the Spirit PLUS is still easy to pass up and down, with double the power and three times the battery capacity (compared to the eLite).

Everyone asks “how far will it go?” There are many variables affecting range and speed but for an Ecosse 270 (middle of the three sizes) with two adults on board an ePropulsion Spirit PLUS outboard should give you 3.5 to 4 knots for three hours (running at about 75% power)… less if you go faster, more if you go slower. So at that speed, 10 to 12 nautical mile range. The extra power is useful if you need to stem a tide although ultimately at this size of dinghy you will come up against hull speed as the limitation, rather than power (it won’t get you on the plane).

The transom height on ECOSSE dinghies dictates that you need the S shaft version of the eLite outboard.
